Brother Toner Tips: How to Replace a Fax Ribbon

If you’re all stocked up on brother toners and you’re faxes still aren’t printing the way you’d like, it may be your fax ribbon. Most of the time you’ll see an error message on the screen that says “Ribbon Empty-Reset or Replace”, which depending on you’re stress-level and caffeine intake for the day, could lead to a minor nervous breakdown.

But relax; if you can replace Brother Toner Cartridges or the Brother Drum, the fax ribbon will be a piece of cake.

If you can’t do any of those things, read this little guide and you could be the office hero next time trouble goes down.

  1. Lift the lever on the right side of the top cover. This should open it.
  2. Remove the print cartridge containing the used ribbon
  3. If you have a new print cartridge, open the package and get ready to install it.
  4. Now comes the tricky part—In stalling the new ribbon in the cartridge:
  5. Slip the lower left cardboard core onto white spool of the cartridge and then slip the upper blue core onto the blue gear of the cartridge.
  6. Insert the upper and lower right white spools into the holders.
  7. Turn the upper right spool clockwise to tighten the ribbon
  8. Turn the cartridge over and reinstall it in your machine
  9. Press down on the Top cover to close it securely.
If you need to order supplies, BrotherToner.com has it all including refill fax ribbons and tons Brother Toners.
