Take What You Want: Just Leave the Brother Toner!

In my office, saving cost-control is of utmost importance right now. No item is too small to cut back on, if it can save the company—which is serious financial trouble—a little bit of green. My co-workers and I joke that they’re going to start giving us a weekly ration of office supplies, and force us to work in the dark to cut back on the electric bill.

But despite all the cutbacks and penny-pinching going on around here, there’s one thing item that everyone agrees we can’t cut back on: Brother Toner.

When the corporate frugality first started they began ordering off-brand toner and ink drums. We never really though about the difference quality toner makes in your print job, but when we started having print issues with our machine, we realized that Brother Toner really did produce superior results. So we’ll ration out our paper clips, computer paper, work in the dark—we’ll do whatever it takes to have an office with Brother Toner cartridges and a Brother Drum or two. We need our documents looking their best for our clients and it just isn’t possible unless we use Brother Toner products.

Brother Toner Troubleshooting

Replacing your Brother Toner cartridges can be a bit of a headache if you keep getting pesky error messages. Deadlines wait for no one, so in order to keep you from getting in a potential jam and to keep you're workflow flowing, here is some helpful information about replacing your Brother Toner ink for maximum results.

This helpful thread was found on the Brother Solutions Center, a Brother services and support website.

The question was "I just replaced the toner cartridge and the LCD continues to display the message 'Toner Life End' or 'Replace Toner'. What can I do?"
The Brother experts were able to give some great advice that is sure to help anyone who is experiencing this frustrating dilemma. If the LCD continues to display the message "Toner Life End" or "Replace Toner" after installing a toner cartridge, verify the following:

•    Verify you are using a NEW Brother toner cartridge
Swapping Toner cartridges from one machine to another or installing partially used toner may cause this problem.
Brother machines control their image quality for most suitable print quality by monitoring toner’s consumption. If you set partially used toner, Brother machines fail to recognize toner's consumption correctly and cause this problem.

•    Verify you are using a GENUINE Brother toner cartridge

For optimum performance use only new genuine Brother branded consumables specially formulated to ensure top print quality.
Therefore if you replace the toner, please use a brand new toner not a partially used toner from another machine.
Printing with 3rd party consumables may reduce not only the print quality but also the quality and life of the machine.  If damage is caused to the drum unit or other parts of the machine as a result of using non Brother branded products, any repairs required as a result may not be covered by warranty.

•    Verify the error message on the LCD display

Verify that the message on the LCD display is still indicating "Toner Life End" or "Replace Toner" for the same color toner you just installed.
If the message is still indicating the same color toner, reinstall the toner cartridge.
If the message changed and is now asking for a different color, replace that color toner cartridge.

Free Print Projects from Brother!

If you’re all stocked up on Brother Toner and are looking for cool things to print, your first stop should be the Brother website. Brother.com has a Creative Center full of fun projects that can really put your Brother Toner cartridges to work. Some of these projects make really great gifts as well.

Some of the projects include scrapbooks, 2010 calendars, colorful greeting cards and origami. If you have some nice photo quality paper, you could print out some really sleek greeting cards personalized with your favorite photo from home. Are you a puzzle maniac? Well the Creative Center at Brother.com has some mind-bending Sudoku and Kakuro puzzles that you can print out in a snap.

My favorite feature is the origami. You can choose which figure you’d like to make and then choose your paper pattern from a huge pallet of designs. You then print out your custom-made origami paper and then follow the instructions to fold.

The scrap books are cool because they come with templates specific to the event you’re wanting to document, all you do is add the photos and text through and make it your own.

The program is incredibly user-friendly, and can be a great project for the whole family! All you need is a printer with a good amount of Brother Toner, some photo quality paper or cardstock and working internet.

Hate the Office Supply Store? Order Brother Toner Online!

The internet has sure made things easier, in just about every way possible. Whether you want to get a new outfit, some flowers for your grandma in Alaska, or order a pizza made to your specifications delivered to your doorstep, you can do it all within a couple clicks of a mouse.
Thankfully for me, you can even order office supplies.

I think my least favorite store in the entire world is the office supply store. And I love to shop.

I don’t know what I hate more about it—that distinct odor of cardboard and office supplies, the horrible florescent lighting that makes you feel like you're in prison, OR the fact that there’s only one register open when you’ve seen at least 8 polo shirt-clad employees wandering the store like zombies.

I’m the secretary at my office, so when we need to stock up on Brother Toner or have to get a new Brother Drum, guess who’s doomed roam the aisles at Office Max? You guessed it! Me! Everyone I work with is well aware of my hatred of the office supply store, and gets a real kick when we run out of something and I have to make a trip. That’s why I so excited to find BrotherToner.com and their incredible selection of printing supplies. The last time we ran out, I went online and ordered enough for the next two months, got a great deal, and the joke was on them!
