Brother Toner Troubleshooting

Replacing your Brother Toner cartridges can be a bit of a headache if you keep getting pesky error messages. Deadlines wait for no one, so in order to keep you from getting in a potential jam and to keep you're workflow flowing, here is some helpful information about replacing your Brother Toner ink for maximum results.

This helpful thread was found on the Brother Solutions Center, a Brother services and support website.

The question was "I just replaced the toner cartridge and the LCD continues to display the message 'Toner Life End' or 'Replace Toner'. What can I do?"
The Brother experts were able to give some great advice that is sure to help anyone who is experiencing this frustrating dilemma. If the LCD continues to display the message "Toner Life End" or "Replace Toner" after installing a toner cartridge, verify the following:

•    Verify you are using a NEW Brother toner cartridge
Swapping Toner cartridges from one machine to another or installing partially used toner may cause this problem.
Brother machines control their image quality for most suitable print quality by monitoring toner’s consumption. If you set partially used toner, Brother machines fail to recognize toner's consumption correctly and cause this problem.

•    Verify you are using a GENUINE Brother toner cartridge

For optimum performance use only new genuine Brother branded consumables specially formulated to ensure top print quality.
Therefore if you replace the toner, please use a brand new toner not a partially used toner from another machine.
Printing with 3rd party consumables may reduce not only the print quality but also the quality and life of the machine.  If damage is caused to the drum unit or other parts of the machine as a result of using non Brother branded products, any repairs required as a result may not be covered by warranty.

•    Verify the error message on the LCD display

Verify that the message on the LCD display is still indicating "Toner Life End" or "Replace Toner" for the same color toner you just installed.
If the message is still indicating the same color toner, reinstall the toner cartridge.
If the message changed and is now asking for a different color, replace that color toner cartridge.
