How Does The Basic Brother Drum Work?

I don't particularly think that by owning a printer you have to know exactly how it works. However, if something ever goes wrong with your Brother drum or Brother toners cartridges, it's a good idea to know how something like this works in order to troubleshoot the problem and try to fix it. If you can't fix it, and your manufacture can't help you, you would simply need to buy a new Brother toner or Brother drum. Initially, the Brother drum establishes a positive charge by the charge wire - this is a wire with an electrical current that runs through it.

Some printers may also use something called a charged roller as well, but the guidelines and process is still the same. As the Brother drum rotates, the printer shines a laser onto the surface - obviously this is for a laser printer. Essentially the laser is going to start "etching" letters, numbers and or images on to the surface. Since this is about electricity you will need a conduit, in this case a fine black powder which comes out of the toner and clings to the negative discharged areas of the Brother drums, but alas it does NOT cling to the background because this is where the positively charged section is.

The powder is then glued on to the roller, the roller then goes over the paper and the paper is then "etched" with the aforementioned "image". It's actually kind of a cool thing if you think about it, especially when you compare a laser printer to an old school printer like an ink jet which simply works like an old typewriter and uses "bands" instead of electricity and charges. It's really the revolutionary and new found way to print things. Its high quality for sure, one of the highest quality ways TO get prints. To take a look at some of the Brother toner cartridges and Brother drum options we offer such as TN-580, TN580, TN-350, TN350, TN-360, TN360 and Brother DR520, take a look at our website!
